Restorative Yoga

“In Restorative Yoga we learn to literally “put the busyness down”, catch our breaths, and feel supported as we surrender to rest and relaxation, encouraging well being for the body, mind and spirit.”

Restorative Yoga is a practice which promotes the deepest level of relaxation and helps alleviate the effects of stress in our lives. It is  suitable for everyone, regardless of life stage or experience.  Restorative Yoga is holistic and preventative, impacting the body, mind and spirit. The body learns to settle and tap into its own natural resources to establish equilibrium and self regulate. The practice uses a variety of props to help the body feel safe, comfortable and grounded. “Each class is a nurturing, healing experience where we can calm ourselves, attune to our body, let go of tension/worries, and mend.”

The instructor, Laura Duncan, is a registered Yoga Alliance Teacher  with certification in Restorative Yoga. Laura recently moved here from time in both North and South Carolina, where she has been a student of yoga for over 15 years. Laura credits yoga as being a foundational, healing practice in her life and is grateful to her many yoga teachers for sharing their gifts with her. She continues her studies with her teacher/mentor, Jill Sockman of Blue Lotus Yoga of Raleigh, NC, and enjoys taking classes here in Woodruff at the Yoga Shop. From asana, to yogic philosophy, to breathwork and meditation, she knows, values and practices the transformative, healing powers of yoga.

Sound Bath

Come relax and unwind with the healing vibrations of quartz crystal singing bowls, gongs, tuning forks, drums and chimes.

Everything in the universe is composed of energy. As such, everything has a natural frequency vibration. Energy, light, atoms, molecules, and even our planet are vibrating at specific frequencies and thus producing “sound”. This includes every living cell in our bodies as well as the energy centers known as Chakras. Just like a musical instrument that emits sound, our chakras and our cells can either be in tune or out of tune.

Every cell and chakra center is naturally tuned to maintain well being and health. But physical, mental and environmental factors can interfere and cause these vibrations to go out of tune and into a state of imbalance. Crystal Singing Bowls are tuned to the body’s Chakra centers so, much like a tuning fork causes resonance to adjacent objects, when played, they help tune chakra centers to resonate in their proper, natural state. In doing so, they allow for the free flow of energy throughout the body, mind and spirit.

HeArt Centered Meditation

"There is a place between voice and presence where information flows. In disciplined silence it opens..."

Rumi, 13th century Sufi poet

2025…A new year. Some things in our lives are very different. Some things have remained the same. So where are we in that space?

What we will focus on this year is that polarity. That dichotomy of new and old, freedom and boundaries, self vs other…Finding

balance and harmony unique to our own paths in an

ever changing world.

With Pluto, (our planet of collective consciousness and self soul reflection) moving into the constellation of Aquarius, many wonder

if this truly, finally, is the Age of Aquarius. How will that effect us

here and now? What part of this planetary relationship can move

us forward? What aspects  of our galaxy are based in science, or

what is merely the art of fortune telling? How can we tell what’s real?

What is Truth? Is everything we do “mindfulness” or do we need

a structured practice? Meditation can help us meet the

questions and challenge of this moment.

Join me for a guided meditation that meets that Middle Way. YOU are the center of your spiritual life, surrounded by a physical existence that requires your participation...in big and small ways. Discover a practice that enhances how you live in this real world…putting your spiritual life in every step, with every decision and choice.

It takes practice. It takes patience. It takes gratitude. Ultimately,

It takes faith in YOU ..and in this amazing gift we have all

been given…Life on this Sacred Earth.

Lia brings 45 years of meditation and a devout Buddhist practice in Japanese, Zenand Tibetan traditions to her teaching and guidance. She holds a Master of Social Work degree. She is also the author of

Wandering: Lessons from the Heron and the Haul Road.”

108 Sun Salutations is a moving meditation connecting the body, mind and universe. The number 108 is important in many different cultures and traditions.

~Hindu tradition associates the number 108 with the number of Shiva's attendants  ~India has 108 sacred sites across the country ~The High Temple of Lamanai in Mayan culture was erected 108 feet tall ~Buddhist temples are often built with 108 steps representing the 108 steps to enlightenment ~Some forms of Tai Chi have 108 movements ~The diameter of the sun is 108 times the diameter of the earth ~The average distance of the Sun and Moon to Earth is 108 times their particular diameters ~In astrology, there are 12 constellations and 9 planets (12X9=108) ~There are 54 letters in Sanskrit each having a masculine and feminine form (54X2=108) ~There are 108 petals in a natural rose
